Half of it has never been told
Then Jacob said to Joseph, “I never thought I would see you again, but now God has let me see your children, too.” (Genesis 48:11 NLT)
This was Jacob’s testimony to the goodness of the Lord at the end of his life on earth. I think many of us can testify about the goodness of the Lord along the same line “I never thought …, but now God …”
e.g.
“I never thought my husband would ever be converted, but God saved him, and called him into the ministry, too.”
“I never thought I would be able to have a college degree, but God provided and let me get a good job, too.”
“I never thought I would ever get married, but now God has let me see my children serving the Lord faithfully.”
etc.
Commenting on this scripture, Charles Haddon Spurgeon once said: “As far as the goodness of the Lord is concerned, half of it has never been told. The Lord reserves the best till towards the end of our lives. The end of our lives will be like a party that will continue in heaven. We found the Lord becomes sweeter and sweeter than ever before. We found the Lord is greater than all our fears, better than all our hopes, grander than all our desires. The Lord is so good that in His acts of grace, He does more than we could ever ask or imagine.”
“Now glory be to God! By His mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. May He be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20 NLT)
God is good, all the time. Be thankful, and have a blessed day!
